
California Workers' Compensation Series
A comprehensive overview of California Workers’ Compensation law, outlining the California Workers’ Compensation legal process and the benefits provided for by the system. The California Workers’ Compensation system has undergone major changes in the past few years, and you will learn the law as it applies to new claims of injury, as well as older claims of injury covered by earlier statutes and case law. You will be made aware of defenses available to California employers and insurance carriers, as well as the current state of “hot” issues in California Workers’ Compensation law. California Workers’ Compensation Insurance System Overview
Learn the ins and outs of how insurance companies operate in California. This module covers the technical aspects of insurance in California including how insurance underwriters determine the premium employers pay and what factors drive up the cost of a workers’ compensation insurance policy.
Module 1 – Overview of the California Workers’ Compensation Legal System
This module covers the various sections of California workers’ compensation law including employee and employer status, covered injuries, occupational diseases and calculating benefits. Uncover the various rules on notice, waiting periods, mental injuries and statutes of limitation.
Module 2 – Key Legal Issues in California Workers’ Compensation – Part I
In this module, you will learn some of the most common issues litigated in California workers’ compensation cases. Find out the key controversies that result in litigation between employers, employees and insurers.
Module 3 – Key Legal Issues in California Workers’ Compensation – Part II
This module covers the common defenses California employers have available to the payment of workers’ compensation claims. Learn the legal doctrines that enable employers to deny claims, when employees are entitled to the payment of benefits and when their actions prevent them from successfully claiming compensation.
Module 4 – The California Workers’ Compensation Update
This live or recorded Webinar provides up-to-the-minute information on new California court cases, California administrative decisions and legislative changes. You can choose to attend the annual live session or view a recorded version at a more convenient date throughout the year to complete your California WCS designation or keep it up-to-date.
Exam -
One exam is included in the California Workers' Compensation Series. It consists of 50 questions with a 90 minute time period.
You must first take the California Workers' Compensation Series training modules before taking this exam. You will have one attempt to pass this exam.
The pass mark is 70%.
