CPCU 560 Financial Services Institutions is one of the ten elective courses that are available to those who are seeking the CPCU designation. The goal of this course is to provide an overview of financial markets and institutions. This includes a review of the various securities markets, its participants, the securities traded in each, the trading processes and the effects that interest rates, inflation, and foreign exchange rates can have on the economy. Also included is a summarization of the operations of commercial banks, and an overview of the key characteristics and regulatory features of other financial sectors of the US financial services industry, along with the risks faced by modern financial institutions and their managers. This course includes the basic concepts, terms and information required to successfully pass the CPCU 560 national examination.
